Album Review

Vernacular Homicide, a typically ambitious mini-album from rap raconteur Mike Ladd, charts his obsession with everyone from De La Soul to Jimi Hendrix. Over basement beats and a kitchen-sink production aesthetic, Ladd earns his freak credentials many times over. The highlight?: "Northampton," featuring what sounds like a miniature chipmunk rapping over a Bruce Haack production.
